The next phase of the emu office transformation involved removing the cork finishing from the concrete beams and repainting the room. We chose a color scheme for the new office based on a photograph taken in the Outback when we lived in Australia. The blue/gray color of the walls will eventually be the accent color in an environment of dark walnut and light pine woods. Of course, the emu logo itself also refers to the burnt color of the land in the Outback.
In our first decisions about possible names for our company, we were fairly conventional. We explored names spinning off of words like ‘sustainability’, ‘design’, ‘architecture’, etc. We decided that these names did not reflect the originality that we hoped to bring to the architectural design scene here in Italy. In an age where brand is everything, we wanted a fresh, easy to remember, easy to translate, and fun concept that we could then apply to our company name, logo, website, and even project designs…
Emu Architects has officially (and thankfully) acquired a studio space that will be transformed over the next few weeks into the headquarters and main office of operations. The first task was to clear out the stored furniture and scare away the various colonies of spiders that had taken residence behind cabinets and old ping-pong tables.
