Klimahouse 2011 Product Spotlight | Manifattura Maiano Natural and Recyled Fiber Insulation

Manifattura Maiano natural and recycled fiber insulationWe were interested in learning more about the Manifattura Maiano range of natural and recycled fiber insulation products, mainly for use in roof insulation. Natural fibers tend to have specific heat values that are very suitable to this application. We also checked the thermal conductivity values for their sheep’s wool (0.042W/mK) and recycled (0.0358W/mK) fiber insulation products. We still need to evaluate the summer performance values of a product like this before considering it for a roof design.

Klimahouse 2011 Product Spotlight | Internorm PVC Windows

Internorm PVC WindowsThis company, Internorm, specializes in PVC windows, which (as a material) are not as eco-friendly, insulative or expensive as wood and not as energy intensive and cheap as aluminum. This particular product shown in the photo claims to meet the Passive House standard with a Uw value of 0,69 W/m2, while maintaining a very nice design that allows it to have a slim interior profile.

Klimahouse 2011 Product Spotlight | MetallRitten Blacksmiths

Klimahouse 2011 | MetallRitten PV GlassMatallRitten at Klimahouse 2011This was one of the most well-crafted stands at Klimahouse. The family behind MetallRitten are blacksmiths first and salesmen after, so we were sad to hear that they are not located closer to us (we prefer to try out local craftsmen first). They have on display a beautiful glazing system incorporating photovoltaic cells, alongside a perfectly crafted stand of wax-polished steel and brass.

Klimahouse 2011 Product Spotlight | Lenofon Acoustic Panelling

This acoustic paneling company, Lenofon, attracted us with their beautifully designed acoustic box made of a finger-jointed solid spruce panels, layered with alternating hemp and wood fiber. While the system is less than 10cm in thickness, the company claims a minimum acoustic absorption coefficient αw= 0.5 (LM), according to the height of the structure.
